Michael Corso Burgundy Portfolio Tasting (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Tasting, brief note. Black and red cherry with good meaty character and good concentration. Has an intense old vine character, while also slightly backward. A clear step up vs the Clos Prieur just tasted, as well as the Champeaux tasted last year.

Nose: The nose leans on the tighter side with red cherries, spice notes, earth tones, leather, and dark red berries. There is excellent complexity that tries to eek itself out in fleeting moments.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity and chewy tannins. The structure here is imposing and there is a coarseness to it at the moment with red cherries, spice tones, earth, and dark red berries.
Overall: I would love to see where this goes with time. It's wound up a bit tight right now, but there are excellent raw materials here for something really good.

Burgundy Tasting at Chevalier Wines: Similar to the Champeaux, this has that deep and rich texture and flavour that tells you that these are very old vines, but I found this bottle much more refined and graceful than the Champeaux. There's a strong note of tart blackberries here, and perhaps it's that, combined with slightly more prominent acid, that gives this its elegance.

Well balanced. Paired well with chicken. Still had a decent amount of body. Much less sour than the last time we had this.
