Deep dark center, red rim with a hint of age. Sweet briar, polished saddle leather, ripe plums. Smooth, mature red fruits, touch of pepper, creme de mure, good acidity, good toasty finish. Drinking well, suspect this bottle is a little prematurely aged.

Has some of the great qualities as previous bottles. However, there is a strong hint of something cooked that makes me think this bottle suffered at some point in its life. Provenance is unclear, so I'll put this down to bad storage by someone. No score for that reason.

Decanted for sediment. Still pretty dark and primary with ripe blueberry and blackberry notes along with a decent helping of American oak on the nose. Definitely some dill pickle coming through. Similar flavors on the palate joined by a bit of peppery spice but mostly ripe black and blue fruit and toasty oak. Medium+ acid, medium tannin and body. Overall, very nice wine and paired great with some smoky pork ribs. Plenty of life left.

Bottle says just outside optimal drinking window. Tastes just as fresh as when I had it at the winery 10 years ago. Still abundantly present oak, which was a bummer. Quite fruit forward but very muddy from the oak. Over-ripe blackberry, ripe blueberry. Some Eucalyptus and pepper. Completely resolved tannin. I would recommend not touching these for another 5 years at least.

Finished off my last bottle. Dark cherry and some smoked meat notes. Oak is present and a bit of vanilla on the long finish. Wish I had more.
