  • PnP. Color is very dark ruby/purple. ON the nose: Plum , pepper, violets, cassis and sour funk. On the palate: Plum, cassis, dark chocolate, pepper, cinnamon and violet. Decadent and sensuous mouthfeel. Good length. Absolutely superb. I am blown away by the quality of this. One of the best quality for price wines I can remember. I think I have 3 more bottles. They will be savored.

  • Aromas of bramble fruit, vanilla, and tobacco. On the palate, full bodied, acidity, spice, and well integrated tannin in the background. Finish is medium with fruit and spice. Opulent wine! Will continue to age gracefully for another 5 years. Enjoyed with filet of beef and baked potato.

  • Decanted for 90 min or so and not sure if this was too much or too little. In some ways I can't fault the underlying quality of the fruit, but there was something out of place and hollow about this. Kind of felt like an early 00s Barossa Shiraz with a splash of Zinfandel thrown it - brambly cherry and plum fruit with vanilla warmth from the American oak. Tartaric acid added, which kind of showed in that tart Cranberry way. It was perfectly enjoyable to drink with cheese in front of a late night movie - better than the usual wines I'd reserve for that purpose, but somehow lost and underwhelming. I'm hoping time might improve it?

  • Big nose, some American oak, 75% one year American oak and 5% new, rest second pass. Big body, good mid palate, very nice tannin, long tannin. Has such an interesting resemblance to Rioja.

  • Nose: blackberry, mushroom, and dry leaves but seems more complex than this
Palate: dark berries, some bouquet garnit, and earth flavors. There's good viscosity and very pleasant full mouthfeel
Tasted with: awesome filet mignon and mixed root veggies
Overall: this was just great. Biased because I was expecting some Guigal Cote Rotie delivery during dinner but this exceeded expectations significantly.

Edit: wanted to mention that this is lower acidity than most Northern Rhone wines I've had. This is a positive for me but may not be to others. Cheers!
