(Mostly) Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Marino - Los Angeles CA): Served double blind, from a bottle opened 6-7 hours earlier. Seemed Chardonnay on nose, but not Burgundy and palate agreed. Great spiced and complex aromas with baked apple, slightly less robust on palate but equally nuance. Both a surprise and treat!

Gabe's wine. Orange-y gold. Very mature but not sherried with notes of pecans, apricots and meyer lemon rind. Butterscotched like a LH but dry, with great depth. Fabulous experience!

Dark yellow. Some peaches underlying moderate oxidative aromas. Actually on the palate, the wine was not bad. Amazing that a California chard could show this well at 35 years.

Bought on release and cellared since. Golden in color. Butterschotch, pineapple and oddly anise on the nose. A little tired/ sherried, but still holdinits own. This was still supple and texturally rich, and while on the downholl slide, it still had fruit, and good character. On the palate, More butterscotch, some marzipan, and a very long finish. Very enjoyable. 88pts. Thanks RN.

Mayacamas Chardonnays from the 1970s and 1980s; 3/23/2006-3/24/2006 (Palo Alto): (4th place) 13.5% Alc. Second darkest of the bunch and begining to turn. Musky yellow. Very inviting was the nose of butter, honey, and some peach. Finished just a touch jagged.
