TN: LDM Young and Old: Surprisingly primary and youthful, the color was almost identical to the 2011 tasted with it, with only a slight ruby corona suggesting that this was the older wine. Smoked meat, minerals, and black pepper bring savory complexity to ripe but tart fruit and help to balance the prominent, but to me not offputting, level of acidity. This bottle suggests years of remaining life, but I'm not sure whether this is a representative sample.

This bottle was back on form with the way I remember this back in 01 or 02 - sort of a baby Cote Rotie with floral and bacon fat aromas. None of the VA that plagued some bottles. On the palate, this has a pronounced raspberry note along with some smoked meat. One bottle left - hope it is as good as this one!

Acid remains abundant, but tamed enough to be welcome with appropriate food match. Quite pure Syrah fruit, but still not much complexity. Will give my last bottle more time.

Still quite youthful, but it opens up with air to drink very nicely. It still has plenty of time left in it.

Crumbly cork and I think this, my last bottle, is not a good example. Pure Syrah fruit still recognizable but no match for the acidity.
