  • Good density and extended length of strawberries, toasted clove and star anise with herbs and cedar on the nose. Very similar notes on the smooth and mineral palate. Medium-bodied, polished and open structure. Nice transition to a deep and lingering finish. Drink this with an hour of decanting. Even better to let this age for the next 3-5 years.

  • Late night at home. From 375ml bottle. Pop and poured. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, raked earth, dark spice, bits of vanilla and toasty oak, black cherries, dark red cherries. Lovely sous bois with air. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), fine silky medium- tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet baking spices, toasty oak, loamy earth, bits of mushroom, concentrated dark red cherries, glossy black cherries. Savoury sous bois with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Beautiful balance of high acidity and dense dark fruits, with satiny textural feels. Gives me great hope for the developing 2013 Burgs I have. In half botttle format, oak can still integrate better over the next few years, but frankly it is not that obtrusive now anyway.

  • From half bottle format.
Sweet ripe cherries nose with floral and spices. Very rich glossy fruits, velvety texture, spices, vanilla oak and toast.
    Good density and weight.
Even on day 3 this continues to hold up well. Certainly this need more time for its oak to integrate more.
