At home with a "Mama" pizza from HG. Bottles bought at release, in my cellar since. Almost forgotten, this is the first bottle opened from the vintage. Splash decant.
Medium dark core, some thinning at the edges. Nose of dark berries, On the palate, candied black cherry, raspberry mild oak. Carmelized and tart fruit notes through the mid palate. Tannins softened. Medium body, long finish.
Really nice wine from a great vintner. The '12 vintage in Napa (in my experience) was thinner and not expected to age as well (from critics), this one doing fine at this stage. In a great spot now but I dont think it improves much. Drink over the next 3-5 years.
PS - CT is showing~ $45 market value, if you can find it at that price buy it and drink it!

From a half bottle that was coravined probably more than a year ago. Opened this up for dinner with steak, leeks and shishito peppers. Like all Favia wines I've had, it's a good contemplative wine, but still a bit too tightly coiled and enigmatic to be casually "just enjoyable". I'd think that the best idea would be to give this plenty of time & not to bother with food.

Drank over the course of 4 hours without much of a substantial change from the PNP. Cloudy in the glass with a bright crimson color. Tannins are gone and the wine is smooth with red fruits and a hint of spice on the long finish. Paired well with a wide variety of Super Bowl appetizers. I don't see much upside from here, so IMO, drink up.

Nice jammy black fruit notes. Medium body, tannins have totally mellowed out. Hit the spot with a grilled skirt steak with chimichurri.
