  • Floral nose of violet. Still a good amount of fruit. Lots of plumb; black currant. Still has that typical “Napa Cab” personality which was surprising and welcome. Finished long with some moss or peat. Absolutely stunning. Still seems to have years left in it, but drinking unbelievably right now.

  • Popped and poured, and it improved over the next hour or so.
Incredibly dark opaque color; wonderfully aromatic: dried flowers, black fruit and mushroom nose.
Plenty of sweet fruit upfront: plum and black currant predominate. Tons of interesting savory notes on the mid-palate. The tannins have softened considerably and there is now a soft, pleasing mouthfeel. The finish is long and satisfying. This remains a benchmark for the vintage and perhaps for Cali cabs in general,

  • This wine is likely in its window, however it’s been a long time since I’ve last tried. So when that started and when it ends a mystery to me. The wine. Decanted for an hour plus. Still has eucalyptus on the nose, but becomes more subtle as the night went on. Fruit is black but not heavy. A treat and joy to share with friends.

  • Dark ruby in color with a very short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.

Strong fruity nose with cedar, vanilla, chocolates and black fruits.

Full bodied, elegant and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and very fruity, with black currants, plums, tobacco, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, herbs and light alcohol.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 28 year old is still drinking beautifully, but was probably better a few years ago.

Nicely balanced and elegant with nice complexity.

Needed 90 minutes of airtime to open up properly.

    Robert Parker 96 points.

I Had this vintage almost 2 years ago, and it was even better then.

A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels for 22 months.

    14.1% alcohol by volume.

    $200.

  • Still quite fruity and vibrant after nearly 30 years. Lots of red fruit followed by black currant. Wood secondary flavors of wood or pencil shavings. Incredibly well balanced. Still a stunning wine. AmazIngly, still have years to go, but it’s in an incredible window right now.
