Starts to open after about an hour or so. Translucent ruby. Some earth, but tart cherry flavors and food friendly acidity are the hallmarks. Wish I had more so I could track its evolution for a couple of more years.

The nose has really developed into a blossoming floral blend. The tannins are well integrated with a subtle dusty presence, lots of sour cherry flavor, and food friendly acidity. The finish is rather abrupt but overall this very enjoyable.

I haven’t had this wine for over a year and time has been very good to it. The nose is much more explosive and tannins nicely integrated while the sour cherry flavors, chalky minerals, and lip-smacking, extremely brisk acidity cause much slurping during dinner. I’m glad I stumbled upon a shop with a short supply of these left because I had finished my original buy long ago.

It's a very translucent ruby in the glass. Nose is rich but tart cherry with a hint of earthiness, and lifting floral note - I always think of Irises - not a flower noted for their scent (I don't think - I'm not a big flower guy) but it has a green, fresh vivacious quality that I find in these wines a lot. In the mouth it's lively, pure and uplifting in its delivery of a complex mix of cherry fruit and acid. Lip-smacking finish. This is one of those wines that refreshes and envigorates. Great stuff.

(Jean Paul Brun "Terres Dorees" l'Ancien Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes) This is just a great wine. The '05 maybe fruitier, sluttier, bigger, more extract...yada-yada-yada.....but the '04 is in a great place now. When it dropped it was acidic, lacking fruit and just very un-Brun-like. But it is busting a fat move now. The nose is just so soil-inflected that the vivid cranberry fruit is an afterthought. But thanks to it's vividness it is a forethought..but wait the soil-inflected aromas are a forthought. Damn I am being Brunned! The palate is a juicy explosion of cranberry and many other wild-growing berry fruits all with bright vivid '04 acidity.
