  • Dinner at Batard: Opened four hours before dinner and poured blind. Dark gold in color. This wine had a bit of a pungent nose that some thought of as celery. There was a clear sweetness from botrytis on the nose; knowing this was white burgundy, I suspected this was from 1986. Lemon and caramel on the nose with tons of honey. Candied apple and great acidity on the palate with some great weight. This wine really came alive an hour in the glass and started to develop coffee notes as well. This wine is drinking beautifully right now and was a very exciting wine to try – it’s not often I have the opportunity to drink such an old example of Roulot.
