  • (Paul's) Orange, deep lemon, lifted apricot, honey lemon marmalade, streak of green, sappy, rich, poly, bright and youthful, but developed with rancio and talc streak, white pepper. Yum. Juicy acid marmalade.

  • Drinks with Jerming and Reuben (Casa Esperanza): This remarkably good for a 50 year old village. I loved the nose on it - it had just that edge of earthy, oxidative rancio floating around a lovely core of sweet mature white Burg aromas - think honey, dried apricots and marmalade, orange blossoms, with a shade of mineral, and maybe the tiniest smidgen of spice at the sides. Really alluring stuff. The palate was mellow and round with age, a little skinnier than the nose suggested, but at the same time really alive and kicking, and still brilliantly balanced, with fresh citrusy acidity running through deliciously round flavours of orange marmalade, honey and apricots. On the midpalate, there were some dried apples, just a little dusting of minerality and spice, and then a kiss of earthy, umami oxidation at the edges of the finish. Gentle, resolved, yet eminently drinkable and very enjoyable indeed. A lovely drop - third time round with this wine, and every bottle has been good. If anything, this ex-Chateau release was more alive than the two bottles I had back in 2018.

  • This bottle direct from domaine for Fine Wines International was newly labeled and foiled but the cork top had crumbly black corrosion. Fill seemed normal. Moist cork broke 3/4 way down and ah so just pushed it in, so decanted with wine sieve. Amber color and notes of honey. Taste had nice acidity, and was that one toe on the train towards vinegar? Went better with homemade turkey vegetable soup than with the opening salad. Enjoyed as an old wine, but this particular bottle was on the cliff edge. Will drink my ‘73 next week.

  • Old and charming - this was every bit as enjoyable as I remembered from the last bottle. The nose showed was richly honeyed notes of dried stone fruit leading into a fresh palate of lapping against dried fruit and flower notes with a long clay and mineral tail. Fresher than the last bottle, but perhaps a bit less full and charming.
