What a different showing from the bottle last year. This nose had little expression to begin with and was shockingly youthful and primary. Lemon lime citrus and little in the way of classic or oenotheque reduction, sulphur, or brioche. As it opened up there was some burnt caramel and a smoky character, but still frustratingly primary. The palate had a lot of verve and energy, and a sort of burnt orange, bourbon, vanilla profile. The P series seem so finicky, and even though DP maintains these are exactly the same wines as the oenotheques, these always seem so different to me, and as this bottle showed, can be quite hit or miss. The first time I had this P3 with BJ it was a strong 96. This showing is a soft 93. I think the three-point delta is a symptom of the P-series.

Damn. Holy shit. So young yet a serious amount of weight and complexity. Toast and lees and so much nuance. Still some yellow fruit (how, I will never know) and lemon in here as well. Incredible balance and precision. Possibly the best Dom I have ever had.

Big fresh nose of lemon and citrus fruit, but that is also very buttery and has a lot of popcorn, almond and praline. Good marzipan. I have had the pleasure of having many of the P2 and 3 series, and this is easily the best one I have experienced, including the '83 served at Abbey d'Hautvillers. The combination of tertiary aromas and flavours paired with vibrant yellow fruit in this bottle is really inserting. "Obnoxiously good" was my initial remark.

Still fresh, typical DP not, reductive style, some sea breeze and toasted toast. Not the great of the 70 or 71. 95
