I think M Arcon is harsh. This is wonderfuly done GG. Dry but enough depth and complexity to have you keep coming back. I had a magnum recently and was sufficiently impressed!

Some people on the table called this GG really disappointing. I wouldn´t go this far, but there is no doubt, that the 2012 GG from Zilliken misses depth, tension and power. A bit an uninspired showing. Very lactic without edges and curves. The fruit is a bit faded. Maybe in a bit of a down phase right now.

From my experience 2012. was a great vintage for all the top riesling producing regions in Germany. Awful label put aside this Mosel beauty is still a baby in terms of German GG riesling. Steely minerality on the nose with grapefruit, white peach and hints of smoke and petroleum. Surgically precise nose with great balance of fruitiness, minerality and youthful freshness. Fresh and full bodied with extremly long aftertaste and great overall balance. Elegant perfection that will age for years to come. 93/100

Powerful lime juice filled nose. Real intensity in the palate with a huge concentration of zesty, juicy fruit and piercing laser acidity. Excellent.

Howard Ripley 2012 Grosses Gewächs Tasting (Middle Temple Hall, London): Herbal/leafy nose with a little menthol lift. Dense and chewy with fringe of citrus acidity. Slightly austere. 16.5/20. 2015+
