  • Well, well, finally, patience is showing signs of reward. This is now opening out into a richly concentrated if somewhat linear wine, with dark fruits backed by a strong dollop of oak, offering far more than one might have though imaginable from any Bordeaux Superieur. It held up well on Day 2. Worth holding another year or so I think to get the best from it.

  • Although it is early to be drinking this remarkably long-lived Bordeaux Superieur, this, and another bottle tried about a year ago, give cause for concern that this is a wine that will never really come round. There is some class on the nose, but the palate is unbalanced and rather coarse, with little fruit or persistence. If the tannins ever do soften, I don't think there will be much fruit left to benefit from.
