  • Getting on towards 21 years of age, and this still had decades left. Singed peach, pineapple core, iron, salt and petrichor ride a light veil of sweetness, and acidity that has emerged from the richness of the 1999 vintage. Age brings a return to the core elements, and this is slimming down to essence of Riesling. It not electric, but it is fascinating. Wish I had more, but it was good to catch this now.

  • No details, but despite a leaky cork and some ullage this bottle was great. still pretty primary and time ahead, although it lacks the acid to go long distance I think.

  • Probably the most delicate of the three Rieslings tonight but still going strong. Moving along the continuum of maturity and really in a nice place. Sorry no details

  • Great Nahe Kabinett. Not quite as complex and intruiging as some of its cousins from the Mosel, but still a delight. Apples and citrus notes together with a copper or rusty aroma that can be found in some of Dönnhoff's wines. The overall acidity was a bit too high for my taste, which came as a surprise considering the vintage. Always a good buy from Mr. Perfect-on-Nahe, though.

  • popped and poured. cork a little leaky on this one. color light straw. nose showing secondary riesling with a waxy petrol flinty character. on the palate, this has surprising grip, with fairly bright fruit buoyed by perfect acidity, clinging to the palate and cheeks and lingering for a medium finish. the RS is integrated and the acids are creamy. definitely not a heavyweight, but I agree with rieslingfan that properly cellared this is in no immediate danger of decline. very enjoyable.
