Nothing like Chicago hospitality...; 4/6/2016-4/10/2016: Pleasant though not really exciting. It's fun to drink with ripe orchard fruit tinged with flowers and herbs and a gentle underpinning of slate, but age hasn't brought a great deal of complexity here - yet. It still feels very fresh and young, though I was hoping for a bit more in the way of development and depth here.

Salil does Chicago 2; 4/6/2016-4/10/2016 (Chicago, IL): #08-98, 9% abv. The nose on this shows just a slight touch of green herbs, and promises a light and easy-going wine. This isn't a heavy wine at all, and it's admirable in its purity and crystalline qualities. Not too sweet, with a nice vein of acid, though the finish does seem to get a little prickly. A bit of green fruit on the end as well.

A hard task to follow the Muller and Schaefer, which are among the most stunning Rieslings I've had in some time (in any style or pradikat). It's quite fun to drink with ripe white cherry and pear fruit and some savoury developing notes, but comes across a little soft without the sheer elegance, focus and weightlessness of the prior Kabinetts.

Straw gold colour. Lovely perfume: spiced, light honey, lemons and mineral notes. Beautiful balance - great acid and slight fruit sweetness. Great length, drinking right near its peak.
