Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 81 points

  • Part of a tasting of five older Truchard wines. Translucent slightly orange-red color. Faintly aromatic nose, earth and cherry notes. The fruit is faded on the palate and a bit muddy. Cherries, earthy notes. Resolved tannins, nice acidity and balance (but with the fruit in the condition noted, that's not saying much). Finishes short and red fruited, bit muddy. Seen better days.

Next day second thoughts: I opened up a different bottle, the next day and it was a whole different wine. Bright, red fruited and lovely. Great balance and lovely finish. 90 points and in no danger of fading. Proving once more that when it comes to older wines, there are no great wines just great bottles.
