Deep dark red color. Bright nose, blackcurrant/blackberry candy. Wet pine branches and soil. Medium body, surprisingly lively, well balanced and solid finish. Some eukalyptus elements on both the nose and palate that becomes more dominant with some air. Very interesting. Yet another Truchard wine that has kept very well in the cellar.

Decanted for an hour in view of some of the published ratings and found the wine to have big fruit and some black pepper and tannins were smoother than expected. I enjoy Truchard wines and while this is not as nice as their Cabs, it went well with dinner.

Clean medium red color. The nose opens with cool blackberries, then earthly and a hint of a gamey component. The taste opens light then gets thicker on the palate. Clean, balanced and with a touch of spices on the finish

I usually like the wines from Truchard very much, but this Syrah fall quite short of impressing. Heavy fruit and heavy alcohol. Hot, overdriven by black pepper aromas, and a bit disjointed. It improves with aeration, but it fails to impress.

Good solid wine that was a bit heavy on the tongue. Not impressive, but not unimpressive either.
