  • Popped and poured. Over the hill. Medium tannins, acidic, light body, definite oak. Quite dried out. Not so much on the leathery side, but just all earth and no balancing life. Personal point of comparison, the 1984 Gun Bun Cab Reserve. Not entirely unpleasant, but this wasn't built for the long haul. $20

Edit: second night, bumped from 84 to 87. It opened up, and the sediment which I forgot to hold back actually gave this more interest.

  • Here’s a new producer to me. This 100% Tempranillo wine is starting to show it’s age with some browning on the outside of the dark deep red-purple. The pleasant, chewy sweet tannin has given way to a finish that demands your attention with plentiful amounts of spicey oak, cigar box, ash, earth, and sweet cherries. Tobacco, vanilla, and dried cherries leap out of the glass. This is very nicely priced at $19.
