A very balanced wine with a nice residual sweetness, still sharp and vibrant acidity. Hazelnut, citrus, yuzu, honey and caramell matched perfect to Foie Gras and aspargus

This Auslese came across my senses as expected. Nice mix of apricot, honey, yellow fruit, a little bit sirup-like but not heavy. We made a bottle empty really in a short time because it is so nice to drink and it is obviously not at the end of its maturity. This wine shows me again that German Riesling has the best price-performance-ratio compared to other worlds top white wines. This wine is not spectacular in terms of giving nice surprises but you cannot do anything wrong with that wine at the table.

(Von Hovel Oberemeller Hutte Auslese) This is another monopole and what a monopole it is. I always find wines from Hutte to be incredibly opulent with rich lemony flavors and always tons of ripe tropical fruit. In this example there is a wonderful saline minerality along with a rich yet delicate mouthfeel and incredibly clean botrytis. Long crunchy finish with piqaunt acidity. Seriously concentrated wine with an amazing structure. Lots of baby fat here so it is still a blast to drink before it closes up. Delicate and forceful at the same time. As I have continued to say in 2005 the regular Auslesen are the bargains of the vintage and is the first vintage where I am trying to cellar more Auslese than Spatlese.
(Von Hovel Oberemeller Hutte Auslese) Lemony, herbal nose with good minerality and a hint of botrytis. The herbs smell very fresh with a dash of dried herbs thrown in for complexity. Excellent density and purity. Very long and detailed finish.

Rudi Weist German Tasting (presented by David Bowler) (Tribeca Grill): 89+++ This wine is very young and needs lots of time to come together but when it does - watch out :) Lots of stuffing.
