Well, yeah, this was a declassified Spätlese (7.5% stated alcohol from 2005). There's still richness, even glossiness, of texture, but with a crisp acidity playing against it. Sautéed apple fruit together with oranges, making for a complex, well-balanced wine that's delicious to drink on its own or with food. Cellared since original release.

Nose: fairly closd, a hint of tropical fruit, no petrol Taste: sweet fruit foward with acidity on the finish, with that silky German mouthfeel, but for me was unbalanced, I'd like more transition in the mid-palate or balance between the fruity up front and the acidity.

Rudi Weist German Tasting (presented by David Bowler) (Tribeca Grill): i have an issue here. this is not a kab. its a full blown spatlese. oh well.... QPR alert!!! 85grams of RS, but you cant taste it at all - amazing balance and acidity is so crisp! very grapy finish, elegant wine that will age well.

(Kunstler Reichestal Riesling Kabinett) This was good, solid if uncomplicated Kabinett. A bit ripe due to the vintage with a nice mineral, floral and tropical nose. Peachy and dense palate with good density and an ensuing smack of acidity.

Pretty dark yellow color, subtle nose of apples, almost baked apple crumble. Light body, slightly sweet, medium finish. Great wine to pair with food.
