not my favorite time with this wine. drank over 2 nights. the high alcohol is really showing through. keeps that green sage/bay leaf/spruce note on the nose but a bunch of whiskey scents that put me off. fruits tasting a lot more medicinal than before. still an overall nice wine with nice fruit and acid showing into a fine tannic lava rock finish, but liked it much more in the 1-3 year age range. will keep the last one a bit to see if it's age or an off bottle i'm getting this time.

Made mainly from the Nerello Mascalese grapes sourced the Allegracore vineyard, aged 70-100 years. Fermented spontaneously on indigenous yeasts, macerated for 12 days, aged in stainless steel. 14,5% alcohol.
Luminous and moderately translucent dark ruby red color. Aromatic and fragrant nose with attractive notes of ripe dark fruits, some blueberries, a little bit of dried dark berries, a hint of bayleaf, a touch of sweet, medicinal VA and a subtle whiff of green apple slices. The wine is medium-bodied, mineral and ripe on the palate with lively, juicy and pretty savory flavors of ripe black cherries, gravelly mineral character, sweet dark berries, some tart green apples, a little bit of sweet volatile character and a hint of plummy fruit. Overall the wine feels very firm and structured with its moderately high acidity and rather ample and grippy tannins. The finish is quite tannic and moderately grippy with ripe and lengthy flavors of juicy dark berries, some sweet black cherries, a little bit of gravelly mineral bitterness, a hint of astringent chokeberry character and a touch of tart cranberry.
A wonderfully bright, vibrant and pure Etna red that doesn't try to hide away its ripeness, yet still coming across as surprisingly fresh, dry and crunchy in style and carrying its surprisingly high alcohol with impressive ease. I actually had to double-check the alcohol level here, because you really didn't notice any boozy flavors of pronounced warmth on the palate. A lovely combination of playfulness and more serious expression; although performing beautifully now, I have no doubts that this wine can age gracefully for 6-10 years or even more. Very sophisticated, Burgundian and hands-down delicious effort, highly recommended. I need to get more of this.

nose raspberries with vine and leaves. cut sage. medium bodied, coats the mouth like a shiny layer of nail polish. fresh picked sweet blackberries and raspberries on the palate. a touch of cinnamon. just begs to be drank again. dry on the end. medium length finish turns a little peppery. some alcoholic heat but hey, just eat something with it. showing really well now.

Tasted at Three Borders Wine Group, UK. Medium garnet in colour. Rich, blackberry fruit. Made from vines 70-100 years old. Plum and cherry palate. A very good wine, but pricey.

Acidity a little muted, but bold nonetheless.
