  I had low expectations, but this was surprisingly good. On first pour, it looked watery and it was taking on a rusty colour. The nose had balsamic and brown sugar, but not aggressively so. On the palate the fruit was still hanging on and and there was a very good level of acidity. It was fully resolved, mellow, and certainly pretty far down the down slope, but still fun to drink what I believe was the first vintage of this wine.

  This was corked, but the wet cardboard only showed on the nose. The palate was light and fully resolved, and showed solid acidity and fresh fruit. Served blind and most of the table thought it was a 1980s Burgundy. Very good... And we all wondered how much better it would be if it hadn't been corked.
