I generally like Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero a lot. This one is not as good as some other vintages. Interesting fruit component, not sure how to describe it - prune? Good but alcohol hotness overshadows the fruit and other components.

Opened at 2300 previous day, poured out 1 glass, recorked and kept until next day uncorked at 1900 for drinking at 2000
At PnP: nose nice vanilla, not much fruit, ok. Very decent, acceptable but nothing to shout about.
At 2100 next day: nose is so so much more expressive. Blackcurrent, mint, cherry, ripe fruit, prune?, violet, vanilla, slight earthy and leather.... superb. Not much secondary aromas yet. Palate: aromas explode and a very long length of something similar to a CNDP wine.
15% is not noticeable on nose and palate, but I certainly felt the difference after 2+ glasses.

Hour and half decant, the nose is very stemmy and gives the impression of being very green. The palate is much different, with none of the green making an appearance, replaced with plum and red licorice. Quiet acidity and very polished tannins round out a medium mouthfeel with a long finish, a quality expression from the Ribera del Duero region.

When we has a need for spanish wine , thats the wine we drink... Dark fruit , mineral , a kind of provence herbs , vanilla and a long aftertaste. A wine to drink...not every Day but in between the other good bottles.
