Winetasting Burgundy vintages 2002 and 2005 (13 bottles): This half blind tasting focused on "middle class" Burgundy mainly from 2002 and 2005. Overall conclusion: All vintages are still performing well. Vintage 2002 is charming, easy to drink, still good concentration, rounded tannins. 2005 is dark, has more alcohol, higher tannins, more acidity, very good balance.
This wine: Dominated by cherry, strawberry and forest flor. Medium acidity and tannin.

PnP at Flatiron, no decant. Initial wiff of extreme earthiness that blew off in about 5mins. A little disappointed with the wine considering '02 was very hot. The fruit is very muted with a finish that tries to go deep but does not really finish well. Its got the typical problem that Corton's have; its a GC but you tend to question it considering some of the villages show much better. Hesitate a bit before you pop open.

Inky dark, fresh and clean nose with just a hint of development / earthiness swirling in. Fruit a bit more subdued this time, but still a silky seductive Burg.

Cassis, black cherry and some smoke on the nose. Nice dark berry finish with some tart bite. Possibly a little bit of barnyard. Maybe still a bit tight too. But quite nice. 2017+?

Very nice. Deep in color. Loads of black cherry on nose & palate. Drinking great but early end of window.
