  • Needed an hour to open and show the beautiful roasted dark berry fruits, spices, dried earth and licorice on the nose, really silky elegant texture with medium acidity and a medium plus finish. Paired great with some smoked brisket

  • Now medium red/garnet in color, this 100% old vine Grenache offers aromas and flavors of red and black bramble fruits, garrigue, graphite and baking spices. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and with tannins that are in the process of simmering down, it stays dense in the middle and hides its lofty 15.5% alcohol nicely when served at 60-65°F. With good length and some grip on the back end, this is a distinctive Châteauneuf that, despite its somewhat rustic tannins, is a delight to drink even at this point. Well-cellared bottles should show well for another 6-7 years. Drink now-2027.

  • Rhone Reds (2-N & 4-S) (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

N: CLOSED; Garrigue atop earthy berries? Intensity lurking?

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which somewhat works itself out by the LONG finish with a bitter/SWTNESS to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '21, then making its 10th. 15.5% ABV; My VG+/EXC-. [This vendor's $44.95 is as good an any of wine-searcher's limited postings.]

    Note: 1st tasted on 6/8/19

  • Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 4 *shared* bottles] from 06/07/19] (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

N: RIPE red rasps with notes of blkberries; Intensity lurking?

P: MF body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish, garrigue-tinged frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker which pretty much loses its bite by the LONG, poss very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a tangy/swtness to the DUSTY tannins. NEEDS through '21 (poss more?), then drinking for 4 yrs more min. My EXC-/EXC (90-93/100 on that scale). [By ALL means, DO check with this vendor if interested in their **STUNNINGLY** COMPETITIVE (closeout?) price!]

    Note : 17/20 i.e. 94/100
