  Excellent nose, nice fruit, albeit a bit acerbic in the finish.

  This was a wonderful pinot from an excellent vintage and represents wonderful value. Sadly, as my Burgundy collecting days are coming to an end, I am thrilled to know that I can find excellent pinots at reasonable prices.
  
  Ashton Hills is rapidly becoming one of Australia’s great pinot producers. A very deep red colour, the nose had a heady blend of beautiful fruits but with hints peppery spice and earthiness. The body was quite mouth feeling or broad, with cherry and raspberry flavours. While broad, it never felt fat or lazy, in fact, the core was quite linear. Finish was long and had cocoa and vanilla to round it all off. Well structured but fine tannin.
  
  Drink now or 5+ years.
