Drunk at dinner at Luma (Playford) in Adelaide. Light red. Screwcap. Light, fresh strawberry fruits, on the dumb side. Requested a carafe for a rough decant. Much more fruit expression with some brambly complexity emerging. Palate showed the same strawberry fruits but was quite flat before the decant. After the decant, it showed much better middle palate structure, greater complexity and length and showing a little raspberry component. It still is on the lighter side but the more time it sits, the greater the emerging complexity. It’s easy to dismiss this on first impressions but that would be a mistake. Needs several years to begin to express itself. In Burgundy parlance, it is in the GC frame though with some Chambolle lift, good Villages. I have it in my cellar. I will give it 4 years minimum from now.

Pinot Noir at Moncur (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): Pretty, jubey, red fruit with a touch of slight whole bunch. Juicy, simple, dilute, slight bitter tannins on the finish, red fruit.
