The cork was protruding a bit from the top of this bottle, which probably influences the experience. I have another with a more normal cork and will be interested to see if that one shows better. There’s maybe 45 minutes of happiness here after decanting, the leathery old bones kind of claret happiness. The nose is lovely, with some pungency of turned soil, and notes of flowers and even some stewed fruit. Pruney notes begin to show themselves after 15 mins and by about 45, they’re strong enough to interfere. The palate starts more slowly but gets there too, tannins melted away, a lot of the alcohol too, it’s smooth old bones. Short lived too, and then the oxidative notes emerge. This is not a knock - the wine is close to 60 years old. Lovers of old Bdx will find interest here and some pleasure, but this is a pretty good wine, nothing more.

Elegant wine beautiful forest floor flavors. Took about 15 minutes to open but dropped off after an hour

This is in great shape but it's just kind of...ordinary. Tastes like Merlot, has fruit an structure but there's nothing to be excited about either.
