  • Stood up for several months. A four hour slow oxidation. Perfect cork. Bottom neck. Pours a medium ruby core fading to a pale garnet outer edge. Concentrated aromas of roasted tomatoes, grilled green peppers, shoe polish, and Christmas spices. The palate is more about balance and harmony than it is individual elements. A classical Saint-Émilion with great poise.

  • An unbelievably rich nose, like a decadent fruit cake or Black Forest gateaux flavoured ganache, alongside black fruit preserve (without the sweetness) and sweet slow roasted tomatoes. Extraordinarily balanced on the palette, hard to decipher individual flavours. On the second glass a charred characteristic on the nose, and a bit of tarry minerality on the palette’. Outstanding.

  • This bottle was still going strong.

Very aromatic - classic aged merlot notes. Dark cherry, leather, chocolate.

Those notes continued on the palate. I would almost call it a red tootsie pop note. This evolved into an espresso note with orange followed by earthy notes. Tannins fully integrated leading to a fairly silky texture. Refined and complex. Clearly had some strong oak influence, which isn't my preference, but is still very enjoyable.

  • Bottle in perfect shape; lots of classic mature character with loads of leather, tobacco and cedar box. Just a little too soft.

  • Opened and let breathe in the bottle for four hours. Decanted for about one and then drank over the next three.

Rusty red color showing it's age with browning developing. Nose of blood, iron, a bit of band-aid and tired tart cherry. Tannins integrated with still enough present to provide some backbone. Good level of acidity. Flavor profile of cherry, blood orange and nutmeg. I would not call this outstanding. It probably never was at that level. That said, there was a lot of enjoyment in drinking it. Would go great with duck or veal breast. Based upon the bottle, I would drink this up over the next 5 years.
