  • Popped & poured last nite to pair with chicken & rice with turmeric. Great combo btw. Generous nose of apricots and apples. Honey, apricot, citrus, green apples on the palate. Excellent spice and biting acidity. The wine is a bit bigger than I'd expected, and had a slightly unctuous feel to it but I liked this aspect of the wine. Wonderful minerality, combined with the spice and complexity to make a very enjoyable experience. The bottle emptied way too quickly.

  • Deep gold in color. The nose is expressive, displaying aromas of orange blossom, petrol, tropical fruits, minerals and honey. This is light bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and lovely finesse. The long finish features a strong mineral element.

  • Enjoyed this, especially after an off bottle of the 2002. Ripe, rich fruit on the attack, with a long mineral finish. Quite primary.

  • Fantastic Riesling - still rather youthful, but really compelling to drink with remarkably pure, focused citrus, peach and white cherry fruit accented by flowers and chalky mineral notes. There's not much in the way of development yet, but there's a remarkable crystalline purity to the flavours, and bright acidity balancing the understated sweetness perfectly.

(Emrich-Schonleber Monzinger Halenberg Spatlese) This was okay but seemed blowsy. Ripe but very mineral and the acidity was not there at first but slowly got going. Still it seemed out of wack and the fruit ran towards the tropical side. The finish just dissipated quickly. Seemed closed.

(Emrich-Schonleber Monziger Halenberg Spatlese) This was a sulfur bomb upon opening but soon cleared up and had a subtle yet complex nose of red fruits, flowers, dense minerality and stone fruits. Palate had great acidity, balance and purity but took a while (read 3hrs) to get there. Definetly a wine that is heading for the big sleep. Beautifully detailed and complex wine.
