Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 91.1 points

  • Dark reddish purplish with some moderate bricking and a thin watery meniscus. The nose is pleasant with notes of juicy dark blue and red fruits, old tobacco, wet earth and mild gamey overtones. Quite round and soft on the palate, on the lower end of full-bodied (which was something that I was not expecting from this when I purchased this about 5 years back), quite supple and substantive on the middle palate and overall, it is fairly well balanced with ample tannins, acidity and quality fruit. The flavor profile of this 10 year old wine includes dark blue and red fruits such blueberries, dark cherries, plums, cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco box, cedar, a touch of well-integrated oak, wet animal fur and wet gravel mixed with river silt. I am pleasantly surprised and frankly, amazed as to how good this is tasting tonight with only 30 mins of decant. A very gorgeous 2nd wine from a top producer from Pessac-Leognan despite being from a so-so vintage. This tastes so much better than the 2012 version I had a few years back. Simply delicious!

  • I really love Domaine de Chevalier. This second wine is really well made considering the very poor vintage which is obvious in the palate. It shows medium structure and low acidity. I would drink all my bottles in the course of 2020/21 as it is in a very good pace right now. Food friendly mid-week bordeaux.

  • Blackberries, cassis and cedar. Medium body and tannins. Some minerality on the palate. Despite the 2013 vintage it shows very concentrated fruit and almost lacks some acidity.

  • Nice blend, coming out with character and finesse, alternating scents and flavors of cherries, plums, violets, black pepper, crushed rock and incense. Harmonious and bold. 91
