  • On the nose, get black fruit, wood, and alcohol. On the palate same. The more i drank the more wood i got. At first the wood was well integrated with black fruit and tobacco notes. My wife kept mentioning wood and by the end it was all I could taste. But the black fruit is well integrated when my opinion was still objective. Overall, Ok but not great.

  • Decanted and drank over two days. Young, obviously, yet good black fruit aroma, palate of minerality and black/blue fruit along with a bit of edge from acidity and tannin - the edge wanes after a day of air, but is still definitely present. Best with food at this stage. I will get more due to good QPR and interest in what will evolve.

  • Consistent with recent TNs. Decanting = useful

  • As with the '18 vintage, more rustic than the first wine in '15, which features Burgundy-like qualities. This second wine puts Pessac-Léognan terroir on full display. Charred earth, blackcurrant, pepper garden, tobacco, creosote, black farm soil, and mineral ores notes throughout. Medium bodied and powerfully structured. Acid, in particular, creates striking lift and tension.

Tasted during the same week as the same vintage La Dame de Montrose. Both are uniquely styled, unmistakably Left Bank Bordeaux, and deliver exceptional QPR. The present wine will likely reach its apex roundabout 2030. At present, recommend decanting for several hours.

  • Splash decanted an hour. Good out of the bottle, with dark fruits, minerals, merlot showing more than cabernet. With 30 minutes this drinks well with the dark fruit and very good concentration as well as a nice, long finish - tannin fully resolved. Great value and would drink now. A-
