Acker JK 51st birthday in NYC. An oaky nose frames the black fruited aromas, followed by a broad array of black fruits in the mouth, dense and concentrated, ending in a powerful and quite long finish. This is not a wine of grace but nevertheless it is an excellent old school burg.

Last bottle of a full case bought in 2007 from the Steve Verlin auction at HDH. It's always been a gorgeous wine and tonight's bottle was no exception. Fantastic.

Big Guns: Burgs and Bordeaux at Bellecour (Bellecour, Mpls, MN): Medium red plus color. PNP, drank a glass over 90 minutes. Siggy's bottle and another stunner for me. Amazingly youthful, great nose and this has deeply intense flavors, dark berries, amazing fruit and depth, savory and intense, umami, very earthy, sour red currants. Just great. Hard for me to pick a favorite between the '01 Amoureuses and this.

Wow, this is stunning Musigny in its pure and feminine style. Very light on its feet with gorgeous floral cherry fruit and a texture of the lightest silk. Fans out on the finish which shows good grip and refined complexity with notes of red berries and minerals. Very fine and very ready tonight and while its not the most complex wine made from this vineyard, it sure is among the most beautiful and beguiling.
