Intense golden brown color; quite closed nose on day 1 and kind of flabby; however, on day 2 and even on day 3 the wine opened more and more revealing aromas of nuts, almond and some matured acidity. Maybe past peak(?) or kind of weird phase? But enjoyed it anyway.

I bought this bottle in December 2017 from an Italian retailer and have stored it in cool, dark and humid conditions ever since. This is to say the provenance should be pretty impeccable. Unfortunately despite that this wine is clearly past its peak. It does not show signs of oxidation on the nose or the palate but it has just way too dark a color for a 4.5 year old high endish Soave and it is seriously lacking acidity and energy on the palate. There is nothing youthful about it, it has faded big time to the point where it offers zero enjoyment. I wonder whether this was just a super difficult vintage or was there something else that caused such a poor wine as I have enjoyed another vintage of this wine in the past just fine and on their website the producer proposes "great ageing potential until 10-15 years".

Medium golden. Dull nose at first but eventually opens up with grilled pineapple, apple and pear fruit. Dry orchard fruit flavours and a slightly rich dry finish.

Light gold. Slightly oxidized. Baked apple, broiled pineapple and apricot. Rich warm apricot and cement flavours and a rich dry finish.
Not my favorite vintage of Soave. This was better then previous bottles.

drink up buttercup. Getting some chamomile to the palate, has some mineral still, but not heading in the right direction. A warmer vintage.
