Great bottle. This wine is showing well now and was decanted for about 45 minutes, which ended up being a great call. Comes out of the bottle with a medium/dark purple red, not as dark as a 100% Syrah would likely show (the wine has an undetermined amount of Viognier). Really wonderful nose of dark blue fruits, vanilla, leather, and just a general interesting mixture of primary fruit with the beginning of secondary elements. Nice palate with tannins sanded down but still present enough to hold up the fruit on a bit of a pedestal. Expanded, weighty finish that had an interesting savory flourish. One of Sanguis's "annuals" (as opposed to their one-offs), this was aged 26 months in large barrels and it shows in the complexity.

Pop and pour but recommend a short decant as it needs air to lose its fruity baby fat. After 45 minutes or so, a bold, balanced Syrah with sweet and salty black fruit filling the palate with seamless layers. AG and LPB differ widely on how long this one will last but it's great now.

(Tasted at the Sanguis pickup party.) Big, bold and beautiful. Syrah co-fermented with Viognier. More of a spice profile than rich in fruit. Cracked black pepper in the finish. Begs for a grilled steak. Wait until 2019; and should last for a decade or two with proper cellaring. (= Outstanding)

Red berries with great balance. Oak hints with mild earth tones.
