  • COLOR - light, bright red. NOSE - tight, with some sulfur, smoke, and earth. TASTE - light, watery, Burgundian style red; easy drinking, but nothing special stands out. Cute bottle. RATING - 85.

  • My Wifes Birthday Dinner: This estate has been around for almost 1000 years. It is curently owned by an insurance company and a fine hotel and gourmet restaurant is also located on site. This company also owns Château de Saint-Lager in the Brouilly appellation. I've had the 2002 Lager and was unimpressed. This wine is made from 17 hectares of vines which have an average age of 45 years. 2005 was a fine year in Beaujolais. I paid $3 for this wine. The wine is not crushed or destemmed. 25% is aged in new oak. I opened a bottle of this up before dinner over the weekend. The 2005 vintage in Beaujolais was an outstanding one. This wine shoed typical Cru Beaujolais notes. No candy or bubblegum. Light bodied and served slightly chilled. A fine expression of a soft flowing wine. Notes of strawberry, raspberry and some earthiness. Very well recieved by our guests. 88 points.
