All American Chardonnay Tasting (New Jersey, USA): Tasted Pnp and over 2 hours in glass and decanter. For me this was a little disappointing. It lacked class and distinction. Seemed pretty pedestrian for an older Oregon/Willamette Valley Pinot of good repute. Decent initially but it didn’t seem to evolve at all. Somewhat flat and transparent. Some richness on the palate but not terribly distinctive.

N: Initially at least a HINT of varnish? Then attractive red rasps with sandalwood & undertones of earth? Intensity lurking?
P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt BEAUTIFULLY counterbalanced by an acidity which seamlessly morphs into a very LONG, BALANCED, VERY slightly spicy finish with a tangy/SWTNESS (40:60) to the few remaining very, VERY fine tannins. VERY impressive for now, & I suspect approaching its 20th. Moreover, should be able to accompany food for most, if not all, of that. 13.7% ABV; My EXC+, poss EXC+/Exceptional-. 91 pts WS, 90 Tanzer, & 87 WE @ $50.

P: Med body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which DOES pretty much resolve as it transitions into a quite LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with periodic notes of bitterness & hints of swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. Despite "holes" from time to time [cf. WE], this likely still NEEDS through '20, after which it MIGHT be spectacular... or not. My VG+ with a full notch (or more?) IF cellaring helps. 91 pts WS, 90 Tanzer, & 87 WE @ $50.
Note: PLEASE *do* cf. this to my TN of 04/27/2019!

Tasted blind in a lineup of six domestic pinot noirs. This shows so well and so young still. Silky red fruit and baking spices with a nice kiss of lively acidity for a 14-year-old. I wish I had more.

Very light red. Almost transparent. Strawberries, roses and fresh mushrooms on the nose. Minerals, cola, pomegranate, strawberry, earth and black cherry on the palate. The wine is delicate, almost fragile. Light, yet still vibrant. The finish on the wine is long and spicy. The longer the wine is open the more weight it seems to put on. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

Winebar [2 Rosés, 2 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 04/26/19 + 3 Shared Bottles (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): THANK you for sharing this SPECTACULAR bottle, Dan! [FYI, if you'll compare this to my TN of 7/14/2018, perhaps the "unknown" storage conditions of YOUR bottle were actually a benefit??]
