  • First glass poured and the remaining of the bottle enjoyed after one month (the bottled was vacuumed).
the first glass was really not appealing. very simple nose, thin and disjointed palate. I kept the remaining of the bottle for cooking.
One month later the wine is transformed. The nose is beautiful, a tad of oxydation notes of course, but there was really fine notes of candied violet and blueberries. the palate was medium body, smooth, fresh with good length. this probably means that the wine is either not ready and/or it needs to breath for a while before tasting.

  • Lovely, very much alive colour. Very fragant on the nose. Nicely mellowed tannins of considerable quality. Taste is not super complex but highly enjoyable. Shows no age, perfect to drink now. The bottle emptied very quickly. A very good wine indeed!

I own the 2000 as well, but I prefer the 2001 actually. I think it has more substance than the more famous brother.

Edit: I see a number of notes that are rather negative. I honestly cannot share that experience at all. I have owned many vintages of this wine over the years, starting all the way back with the 1976. The 2001 is a very good representative of this property, in my experience. I will add that I buy all my Bordeaux en primeur and have a good cellar.

  • Opened and decantedz v little sediment. Nothing on the nose. Flat and no length on p. Drinkable but clearly Past it. Didn’t drink the bottle. Bottle was a gift and I presume therefore of uncertain provenance. In case it’s not clear: Drink now!

  • On a gentle downhill slope. Gentle tertiary flavours, bit of barnyard, and very little fruit, but still a nice package to sip slowly.

  • The wine has still a dark red colore no real signs for changing to orange. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells a bit of oak and dried fruits, very "warm". In the mouth you have tastes like blackberry, prune and black pepper. The body is medium/full but reall not that powerful. It has a round texture and is one of this wines you can just drink and drink.
