Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Meaty and savoury, a touch of blood here as well initially. With time and agitation a touch of mint and red and black hued fruits; plums, currants, touch of sweet spice on the nose. It's quite herbaceous on the palate though with drying, slightly woody, tooled tannins that prove a little coarse and green, fruit relegated to the background. Promising nose let down by palate.

Needs a bit mod air time this one. After a good couple of hours it opened up and revealed some good Bordeaux flavours of cassis and blackberry. Not the best value I would say at £35 a bottle - could name a few clarets that would be way better at this price point but not a bad effort.

This was dialed in for perfect extraction and maturational balance. It needed 2 hours to hit that perfect spot of dry, savory, plum, tobacco mint, spicy leathery dust that evolved its finish for a minute tasting like I just puffed from a quality Nicaraguan cigar. The texture was the real joy as it was plush, soft and luxurious complimenting very well smoked wild duck and Keisarinna. 8.5/10
