In a lovely spot but with plenty of time still ahead of it. Graphite, plum, leather. Harmonic and just showing the slightest signs of age. I hate that this was my last bottle but it was still such a joy.

Second wine of Chateau Labegorce. One-hour decant through a screened funnel. Dark ruby; clear wine. No bricking yet. Not overly fragrant during decanting, but in the glass the wine had a lovely nose of black currant, cherry, toast and flowers. In the mouth, wine was deep: cherries, blackberry and cocoa. Tannins were mostly gone, but wine had excellent structure and balance. Long finish. Very satisfying wine and a wonderful Margaux despite its status as a second wine of a crus bourgeois.

A high QPR Margaux with elegance and a fruit forward posture reflecting its vintage. Nice nose of plum, blackberry with hints of pepper and smoke, this dark brooding purple wine hits the palate with a soft mouthfeel and interesting complexity of its dark fruit and tobacco flavors. A balanced finish with soft but strong tannins and a nicely fresh acidity leads to a medium long finish with a fine blackberry aftertaste. The nice balance and strong fruit presage a bit of aging to soften it up a bit more, though it is drinking nicely now.

@Ganen: Mature nose with ripe fruit. Very, very fruity with some licorice on the palate with strong tannins, elegant acidity. A good and elegant wine.
