Much more elegant and understated than some of the newer vintages I’ve had. It was nutty but with dried/drying tropical fruits, not much citrus. Almost waxy in texture but missing some concentration. But all of that presented itself as elegance. I’d be happy to drink this again but would need to be paired correctly.

(at Charleston - Baltimore, 375ml). This has come a long way in a few years. The herbal, yeasty element remains but has been joined by a lovely guava / not quite ripe pineapple note that rounds things out nicely. Remains crisp and a fine food match. I believe it’s at its best. (91)

Lovely clear yellow color in the glass. Aromas of citrus fruits, pineapple, grapefruit, plus golden delicious apples. Restrained flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and apple, with mineral notes. Well balanced, with acidity softened by the Semillon grapes, but still pleasingly crisp. As always, this is an excellent Bordeaux wine.

Knurd family Christmas dinner 2022, paired with the acorn squash & daikon radish soup. Added a dollop of salted ricotta as well. Creamy lemon curd from the Sauvignon Blanc + oak, a hit of zest from the acidity, and a smooth texture from the Semillon made this wine of the night. Perfectly complemented the salted ricotta, earthy acorn squash, and peppery component from the daikon, which also made it pairing of the night. Didn't expect the reaction this got, though in retrospect I did bring out the big guns for the first course. Carbonnieux are $60+ these days so it's hard to find value, but you definitely won't find a better Bordeaux Blanc. A- (92).

Not the best vintage from an excellent producer.
A tad lean. Aroma of mint. Lacks the glossiness of Pessac-Leognan semillon (30% of blend), perhaps with time?
12.5%, diam (30!).
