Dark purple, almost black. Varnish, hints of savory and dark blue fruits on the nose. On the palate its soft, not jammy but rounded, with soften tannins and with just enough acid (barely) to keep it moving across the palate. The 15%+ alcohol is evident in the finish. I have drunk worse (of course) but this big bruiser is disappointing.
Its not that its a poorly made wine really, just that its an over extracted, high alcohol, style that lacks nuance or much interest.
Will definitely appeal to those who just want their nightly hit with out any challenges to the palate.

Fairly open with massive body and forward fruit. Tannins showed more with some air, but this was defintely drinkable and enjoyable, though somewhat low on varietal character.

Stimmel's: Jam Session (Bowling Green, OH): Jammy raisin nose, with hints of bacon. Acidic, almost to the point of sourness, medium+ tannins. Inky, long legs. Black fruit, raisin, porty, but everything in relative balance. Even slightly elegant. $30

Hot, with plum, raspberry, and a lot of acidity. Worked better at 70 degrees than fresh from the wine fridge at 60. Jammy, full, and inky.

Started a bit tight and tannic but quickly opened up very nicely with dark black fruits and nice balance.
