  • Moving along well- crimson/purple in the glass. Cranberry and red plum; maybe a hint volatile but all in balance. Firmly acidic finish with excellent cut.

  • Consumed over a course of the week. This will outlive me! I am always challenged rating a wine by the great, late Mr. Thackrey - especially after having a very interesting conversation with him in regards to the superfluous wine score. Yet, this is obviously classic. Black and red fruit, leather, eucalyptus, Szechuan, cloves, earthy and canna-butter. The body is very full, yet this has an addictive lift. There’s cut. Long and flowing. Infanticide. Drink 2027 -.

  • Way too young, but still drinking great. It was punch-you-in-the-face taste roller coaster to begin, then came together really nicely after about an hour and a half. Cranberries, brambles, baking spices. Definitely going to get more of this and lay it down.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry, mineral, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and alcohol/hot. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity.

  • Damn! Approachable from the start, but it's obvious that this is also crazily young. Probably will start to hit its stride in 2026. Went with burgers with truffle jack incredibly well. Complex, full-bodied, probably has the viscosity of a stained glass window, and just delicious. Thackrey was one of my first wines - I used to live about a mile from his tasting room at Marin Sun Farms, but it's been 8 years or so since I had an Orion. What a treat.

  • As advertised, an incredibly complex, fruit driven wine. Strong nose of Blueberry, palate was layers of earth, blue and black fruit, savory spicy aspects, bramble, and thick fruit tannins. Last sip was the best, a wine you would like to savor all day if you could. It's expensive, though.

    QPR 6.5 (of 10)

    Aging 2026 at least
