Popped and poured two nights ago and found this remarkably young in color and on the palate. This had dark fruits, full body, some leather, and was still showing some chewy tannins. Day 2 the fruit had faded, but overall this is still holding up, but probalby best drunk now to enjoy the fruit. A-

Color is a mature brick red. The nose was somewhat muted at first. The palate is still a bit tight. After a while the wine started to open and aromas of tar, leather and asian five spice started to come thru. Lost some fruit but still a really nice wine.

Hanging with Mike Hirby (Sbicca, Del Mar, CA): Popped and poured. Vibrant deep red color. Very little bricking. Leather, beef and dirt on the nose. Dark fruit, spice in the mouth, smooth. Fully integrated, drinking very well. Wish I had more.

(Took to Alana's) Earthy nose with some latex and wax elements. Pipe tobacco and more earthiness up front. Somewhat hollow fruit core which was not unjoyable. Very soft and velvety. Persistent finish of same elements. Time gave rise to some brighter acid fruit and a meatiness. Quite good with dinner and cheeses.
