Quite a tasty wine - like licking a wet rock that was used to smash fresh-picked strawberries. In the most pleasant way of course. Appropriate for $54 flash sale at LB.

The color is pale ruby-garnet. On the nose there are pronounced aromas of strawberries, dark cherries, kirsch, little graphite and tobacco. The acidity is high. The tannins are also high and very silky. The wine is medium bodied und has great length. The flavors on the palate are similar to the nose and also pronounced. Glass I used: Riedel Veritas New World Pinot Noir

Classy, inviting bouquet. The palate is savory, a mixture of intense and effortless, crushed cherries, spices, licorice, minerals, charcoal and smoke. Tannins dry the roof of mouth, oak is fully melted into the mix, which is just lovely. Long mouth drying finish. Nicely accessible now and one cannot deny that this is convincing but, at least at this point, did not quite reach the next level I was hoping for. I liked it very much, though. Cannot wait to open a bottle of 2020 and a bit later 2021.

Concentration without weight. Sappy red licorice and maraschino cherry. Polished and suave. On the mid-palate the acidity plays second fiddle, but then it creeps in judiciously for a wonderfully harmonious finish.

Weaker bottle than my first, a bit lacking in acid
