  • Blackberry jam, black tea, animal fur, black pepper, wet concrete, ethanol on the nose. Still juicy on the palate with a black tea-infused vodka finish. Large-scaled, although it seems to have shed some rough edges of its youth. Apart from the high alcohol, no obvious flaws, but I'd like it a little better if it were dialed down. The high alcohol will probably preserve it at least for another 3-5 years.

  • To quote from the Stranger in Big Lebowski "Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, why the bar eats you" and in this case the fruit in this wine, why it ate me (or more directly, it ate at me). Just too much of the fruit in this one, and while sometimes that component works, in this case it didn't come together. Mostly big burly blackberries, with some leather and anise spice, but it never really comes together on the tongue. It's still carrying some rougher tannins, but they're not kind at this time. Would drink it sooner than later.

  • Perfumed blackberry liquor notes, roasted black plums, black licorice, black flowers. Big and lush blackberry flavors, more asperity than I would like to see (hello, heat), but this has layers of blackfruits, and black licorice on the finish.

  • Red fruit, red licorice and slight iodine on the nose. Really nice red fruit, licorice, nice acidity and mouthfeel. Nicely balanced.

  • Aromatics of purple fruits, meats, iodine and floral perfumes. Rich coffee tones on the palate w blk currant and hazelnuts. A little bit short on the finish as well as some distracting bitter elements.
