  Blackout Tuesday! (1/20) — My friends and I tackled a full-scale vertical, and we started with what we figured would be one of the best of the bunch. Each bottle I've opened has been a little different, though thankfully none were oxidized. This 2009 still had a touch of heat, with a medium-thick body akin to a barleywine. Flavor was super fudgy, with smooth but mild roast. So far, off to a great start!

  Brought one of my best bottles to New Orleans to share with my soon-to-be-Belgium-bound friend, and this did not disappoint! Reminded me, as it did last time, of bourbon maple syrup, but this bottle felt like the bourbon character was contributing a bit more aggressively, with some nice woodiness and a hint of burn hanging out. Still as extraordinary as I remember it from two years back!
