What a pleasant surprise. Classic aged Barolo nose with loads of maraschino cherries, dusty earth, sweet spices.
First thing that hits you on the palate is the acidity, which is still quite considerable. Not super long on the finish but a really lovely example of aged Barolo. I’d say this is drinking perfectly, but will probably start to decline soon.

This wine sings Nebbiolo - beautiful truffle and earth dominate the nose accompanied with dark cherry and ripe raspberry. The palate is not as nice as the nose - cherry menthol and a touch floral. Possible in a "dumb" stage. Great value Barolo.

Day 1: Tight and tannic; softened up with serious (4+ hr) decanting. Ripe, with indian spices and vanillin oak aromatics, some rose petal. Rounder than I've come to expect from the vintage. Reasonably good typicity, just riper, darker and a touch oakier than I'd like. Day 2: Much more vital, with zingy acid and better oak integration. Strawberry liqueur, rose petal, wood spice, this is getting closer to what I want. Good potential; last glass was head and shoulders above the rest of the bottle. Hold.
