The fill and garnet color were encouraging, but nothing could have prepared us for the near perfection of what was in the bottle. This led with red fruit and floral aromas, and and then sous bois and mushroom and earth. We had trouble taking our noses out of the glass long enough to taste the wine. When we did, the flavors were in nice harmony if not as flamboyant as the aromas. Nice structure without any fading on the finish. This is just the kind of intermittent reinforcement that drives Burgundy lovers mad. And Les has 3 BOTTLES LEFT-- will they all be magical like this?

bottle, fill and cork all excellent. In reading through the notes on this wine, I see I am an outlier. The Guy Accad period for Grivot is much criticized, but this wine was very fine. It is somewhat stern in the 88 style, but there is finesse and lovely sous bois, berries and earth. More like Nuits St Georges than Vosne, it had excellent weight and texture. This wine needed proper food and at least an hour in the decanter to come around. Also, it should be drunk from the very large Reidel burg glasses to get the full effect of the nose. This is the real burgundy.

I am not sure what to say about this wine. It is nice at the moment but without that extra. I did not really feel that the fruit was there. A decent bottle of wine but not more.

Yes, big disappointment given the vineyard and producer. Not very exciting.

Dr. Bob and Elaine Hudak dinner at Lavandou (Lavandou, Washington DC): It has seen the better days. The fruit has thinned out, some sap, just a hint of tired red fruits. I believe this never had enough fruits to counter the structure.
